Alternator FAQs

How can I tell a freewheel pulley alternator from a fixed pulley one?

The freewheel pulley (OAP/OAD) has a one-way clutch mechanism that absorbs jolts from the belt. If the original was a freewheel type, you must fit a freewheel one, as a fixed pulley causes noise and premature failure.

Can I fit a higher-amperage alternator?

Generally yes, but it's best to keep to the original amperage. A much higher amperage can overload the wiring and battery if they aren't rated for it.

Is the alternator supplied with a pulley?

Yes, all our alternators are shipped with their pulley fitted and checked.

What warranty does the alternator have?

We offer a written 1-year warranty. If it fails within that period and was fitted at a garage, we arrange a replacement or refund.
