When should you replace the interior door handle?

The interior door handle is a wear part that tends to break through continuous use. The most common fault is a broken internal plastic catch connecting the handle to the lock rod, which makes the handle move freely without opening the door. Breakage caused by slamming the door or by the plastic ageing due to heat and UV rays is also common.

Replacing it usually just involves removing the door card, undoing the two fixing screws and disconnecting the rod. It is a straightforward job for any garage and restores the vehicle's original look and function at a low cost.
