Frequently asked questions about air conditioning condensers

How can I tell if the A/C condenser is leaking?

If the system loses gas within a few weeks or you can see oil stains on the condenser fins, the condenser has most likely been punctured.

Should the receiver drier be replaced when fitting a new condenser?

Yes. Whenever the A/C circuit is opened, it is advisable to replace the receiver drier as well to prevent moisture and future faults.

Is the condenser the same as the engine radiator?

No. The condenser is part of the air conditioning circuit and sits in front of the engine radiator, which cools the coolant.

Is it supplied with caps and connections?

Yes. Unless stated otherwise, the condenser is supplied exactly as removed from the vehicle, with its fittings and mounting brackets.
