Is a rear bodywork part from a car breaker's reliable?

Yes, as long as it comes from an authorised facility and has been inspected beforehand. Autodesguaces Alicante is an ATF (Authorised Treatment Facility for end-of-life vehicles). Will the rear bumper or tailgate be the same colour as my car?

Rear bodywork parts are supplied in the original colour of the vehicle they were removed from. The colour may not match your vehicle exactly because of differences in model year, sun exposure or paint wear. In most cases they will need repainting at a body shop to match the exact shade. This is normal for any bodywork repair with used parts, and even with new parts, which are supplied unpainted.

What is the difference between a tailgate and a boot lid?

A tailgate usually opens together with the rear window on hatchbacks, SUVs, estates and MPVs, giving full access to the boot. A boot lid is more common on saloons and closes only the luggage compartment, without the rear window. Depending on the model, both parts may incorporate the lock, rear lights, trims, badges or wiring.

Does the rear bumper include parking sensors?

It depends on the specific part. Some bumpers may include sensors, wiring, reflectors, trims or a spoiler, while others are sold as the bumper only. If your car has parking sensors, make sure the part is compatible with that equipment. We always recommend checking the product photos and description before buying.

Why won't my tailgate stay open?

The most common cause is that the boot or tailgate gas struts have lost their strength over time. When that happens, the tailgate may drop slowly or slam shut, which is awkward and dangerous. Replacing the struts with checked ones usually solves the problem and restores proper support for the tailgate.

Do I also need to replace the reinforcement if I replace the rear bumper?

It depends on the impact. In light knocks only the outer bumper may be damaged, but in harder impacts the reinforcement can be bent or deformed even if this isn't visible. We always recommend checking the reinforcement when replacing the bumper, to make sure the whole rear assembly is in perfect condition.

How long does a rear bodywork part take to arrive?

We normally deliver anywhere in Spain within 24-48h, using special reinforced packaging for bulky parts such as bumpers, tailgates and boot lids. For large or heavy parts, delivery may take up to 72h. You'll always receive a tracking number as soon as the part leaves our premises.
